	The study says 21% of working households in Louisiana—with a &amp;#8220;working household&amp;#8221; defined as one in which someone is working at least 20 hours a week but not earning more than 120% of the median income in the area—spent at least half their income on housing alone. Such a situation is defined as &amp;#8220;severe housing cost burden&amp;#8221; in the center&amp;#8217;s Housing Landscape 2012 report.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
	Louisiana&amp;#8217;s rate of severe housing cost burden was slightly lower than the national rate of 23.6% in 2010, but the report says it&amp;#8217;s still a &amp;#8220;significant increase&amp;#8221; from 2008, when the rate was 18%. The problem is acute in the New Orleans metro area, where 28% of the population faces a severe housing cost burden, up from 22% in 2008.
